Friday 26 December 2008,

Hello there! Happy Boxing Day! :3

And a rather belated Christmas, ehehe. I know I've been a lazy pig and I neglected this blog for so long, but just to keep you updated here's what I've been doing with my life lately. In point-form, of course. Ah, I am just not fit to call myself someone literate.

+ I got through that dreaded choir performance without any mishaps.
+ I watched my choir teacher perform at the Esplanade.
+ I went to Genting for a short holiday and brought back 3 soft toys.
+ I got into RGS, for those who didn't see me on Reporting Day.
+ I got in and decided to take Japanese next year. Success! ^^

So my two greatest wishes are fulfilled right now. Happy? Well, I guess I really am. And next year's going to be a new beginning. Just SIX more days to 2009! SEVEN more days till school re-opens! SIXTEEN more days until I'm officially(gulp) thriteen. Gosh, how time flies. And now that it's coming closer and closer, being thirteen seems all the more scarier. I don't know why, but the thought of being a teenager puts me off. But we can't stay children forever, so I guess I have to face up to it. Ah well, everyone's going trough the same phase as me so who am I to complain? But still. It's SCAAAAARY.

Anyway, for Christmas I wasn't expecting to get anything from anyone at all(I don't celebrate it) but I got some lovely presents from Janelle and Marianne. Thanks guys, I'll treasure them greatly! :3 Oh, but it isn't all about presents. I was pretty happy because of all the 'merry christmas' greetings I recieved as well, haha. And I spent the day before making crappy hand-drawn cards for people. Like the mass one I sent by email, no need to elaborate on that. For my mum it was a stream of talking presents, for my father it was Santa getting stuck in his chimney, and for my sis it was a singing cat and a goose. Don't ask.

So on Christmas Day itself, my parents were really free and they had nothing better to do so my shopaholic mom suggested we go to Japanese Gardens because I liked nature, then to Jurong Point to hunt for Christmas bargains. Her and her bargain-shopping, heehee. We set off for Japanese Gardens, where we stayed awhile and basically just sat by the lake. I got a huge stomachache because I was carsick(I ate lunch just before) on the way there, and my mum said my face went really pale. I threw up in the toilet after that, but I guess I felt better soon. So enough about Japanese Gardens before I bore you to death, and on to our little shopping trip.

We all got back in the car(obviously) after that, and fortunately it was nearly dinnertime so I had no reason to get carsick again. My sis kept saying something about going to Jurong Point in the car, one of her wondrously kiddy singsong modes. I simply stared out of the window as I always do, of course. When we reached the mall, everyone was starving. So we decided to get dinner first. My family loves bargains, so as a result we had to skip the lovely Sushi Tei restaurant and eat food-court Japanese food instead. Though I must admit the udon wasn't that bad, sushi still beats it. Definitely. Sushi is one of my addictions! It was REALLY crowded there, and my sis and I found a seat after a long time.

Well, we actually sat with this young couple and their little toddler girl who looked really cute eating a chicken drumstick. Of course, the queues for food were really long as well, so the two of us just sat there and tried not to stare. More difficult than it sounds, really. When our food finally came, my parents announced that they were going table-hunting because there wasn't any space at the one which we were sitting at. And so we were stuck eating with some absolute strangers. Worse still, the girl's mother kept pointing at my sis when we were sharing the tempura and chicken between us, and she said to the girl: You see, darling? Jie jie also know how to share, so guai. Why you not guai ah, darling? Don't make mummy unhappy okay..? Embarrassing, very embarrassing. And so we wolfed down our food as quickly as possible and went to join our parents. Of course, they finished pretty quickly as well, the ambience there wasn't the best for eating anyway.

After that, my parents went to various clothes shops to look for bargains and I dragged a rather reluctant Percia to Harris Bookstore to look for other bargains- bargains on books. Hehe. I found really nice books like The Memory-Keeper's Daughter for under $10, and even this book for $4.95. It's a hardcover 1200+ page book entitled Hunger's Brides that's set in the Baroque era. Can't wait to read it(if I can finish it). Oh, and I picked up Dan Brown's Angels and Demons for $9.08 as well and yet another big, thick book for $8.90. Pretty eventful, eh. All in all, it came to around $25. Yaaaay me.

My mum seemed to be pretty happy with her shopping as well, seeing as she brought bags and bags of clothes back with her. Then we went to look at miscellaneous things, where my sis bought a really cute pink and black-polka-dotted hairband. She looks so squishy in it, I swear! We also visited this chinese foodmart where my mum bought sichuan spicy steamboat paste, yum yum. And we passed Action City where the two of us got our most unexpected Christmas gifts: loaves of bread. Okay, pieces more like. How cheapskate, right? Nah, just kidding. Here's a picture:

OOH. It's actually called Breadou, and it's some wrist-rest cum stress-ball thing. No matter how I look at it, it's BREAD. And it even smells like it! Coffee-ish smell. Hehe. I just love squishing it so much, it's pretty amusing. I like real bread, but squish-able, non-perishable bread is more my choice. Whee~!

So that's pretty much it. Everyone got home, everyone was happy and we all basked in materialistic comfort. Of course, we got our fair share of hugs and kisses as well. As we always do.

We're only human, after all.

Thursday 11 December 2008,

I know the last posts have been really rubbishy and all that, but please bear with me... Well, I'm about to post about something that happened last Sunday, approximately FOUR days ago. My dad's been hogging the com rather often, so it's a wonder I even find time to post at all. Anyway, last Sunday was one of the rare times my family had a Family Day. To us, Family Day is where we all go out together, maybe for the simplest of things like eating lunch to even bigger things like going swimming and all that. I know it sounds rather pathetic but it's heaps better than having nothing to do at home, eh. So that day was a rather 'historical' event: Our very first time bowling together. Shockhorrorgasp. I know. My parents hadn't bowled since a decade ago(their wedding anniversary back then) and it was Percia's first time bowling. So of course we were excited, especially Percia.

We went to a bowling alley close to ours, some NSmen clubhouse or something. Sorry, forgot the name. But anyway, there was this rather cheesy-sounding 'Star Bowl' bowling alley there. To be more precise, we checked West Mall, Lot One and Bukit Panjang Plaza before finding the place. My dad said that it was just because a bowling alley isn't a very good investment to make. And then Percia and I started going on about what if bowling were to disappear from the face of the earth. Yes, we're pretty pointless people. So then we saw the 'Star Bowl' signboard gleaming so big and bright in front of that place when we drove by, causing my dad to utter a whole string of profanities and grumble about how much petrol we'd wasted. Typical of him, but then again we were all rather angry with ourselves for not having spotted the place earlier. So then after all that fuss, we finally got into the clubhouse and started looking for the bowling alley.

We went to ask the receptionist where the place was, and then she pointed in front of us where there was a staircase leading upstairs, saying it was on the third floor. My mum asked if there was a lift and she said no, so we had no choice but to climb upstairs. Of course, my parents were feeling rather breathless when they reached the top, but Percia and I had probably gotten used to climbing RGPS's staircases so it was no biggie. The bowling alley wasn't anything to gape at, of course, but it was the first time Percia had ever seen a bowling alley so we all decided to put up with her gasping. Then we had to teach her all about bowling ball sizes and get her oriented with the whole procedures. After getting the bowling shoes from the counter, we were all set. My parents were beginning to get rather childish and they were each saying they could beat each other, while me and Percia just watched and laughed. We did place bets on who'd get a better score, I said my dad and she said my mum.

And so after a lot of cursing over gutter balls and 'YES!'es over strikes and spares, my mum finished with 107, my dad with 93 and I with a meagre 48. (I know I'm terrible, I've only bowled twice before after all) My sis finished with 32- Not bad for a first attempt but still way behind like I am. We decided to do a second game since there was still time, mainly because my parents were so competitive. In the end, my dad got 132 and my mum got 103. I got slightly better, 62 and my sis got 28. Not exactly first-rate scores, but we still had fun, eh? And so after that it was time for lunch, though I don't know how two games could've taken two and a half hours. Perhaps it was all the water breaks and snack breaks in-between, but my family's more of a couch-potato one, hehe.

I don't think you'd enjoy hearing of how we guzzled lunch down, so you'll have to wait'll tomorrow and I might write about my choir performance and stuffies. My fingers hurt anyway, and I'll hit the sack soon. So it's bye for now. BYEE.

Friday 5 December 2008,

I was checking my email again today, and guess what? 59 SPAM. WTFWTFWTF. It's true: Everyday I get more spam than email. Today it was only 10 email. But 59 spam? Freaky beyond anything. So I decided to go see what on earth there is lurking in there and here are some really pointless excerpts(I saw the reading bar, I'm not so daft as to open the mails).

"Take your presents for holidays! Huge Christmas actions!" My presents DO NOT like to go for holidays. So there. O.o

6 mails saying the same thing: "Replica Watches- cheap and really good solution!"

"Do not be angry! We help people to be healthy, without spending any money!" Did I say I was angry?

Is it just me, or are even spammer bots getting dumber and dumber? The most frustrating thing about Gmail is that it gives so much spam. Fine, so maybe it's all in the spam mail compartment. But some of my mails like game newsletters end up there too, and then again it's not very consoling to know that you'll have to sift through dozens of spam mails in order to find that one mail. Ah well, I guess that's what can be called a disadvantage of technology..?

Everybody communicates by email nowadays, I've never written a letter in my life and I'm sure most people my age haven't. Writing letters seem like a rather nice practice that shouldn't be discontinued, eh. I remember seeing this newspaper clipping last year(or this year) about people's handwriting getting messier, and not writing letters was one of the possible reasons for it. =.="

Gosh, this holiday has rotted my already clouded mind so much that I even have time to ponder about life's great mysteries. I wonder if I'll even learn a thing next year. Eck.

22:30

Oh gosh, I wonder why I even BOTHER to give titles to my blog posts. So random, huh. So today turned out to be a much better day as compared to yesterday and the day before that and the day before that and the- Okay, I think you've got it. Teehee.

So anyway, today was the day of the choir party I was talking about earlier... Basically, from 10am to 12pm, all we did was sing and sing and sing until our throats got sore. Okay, actually just run through the entire programme thrice. But that alone is enough to kill anyone's throat, so I'm actually not exaggerating. YAY. It was practically just like any normal choir practice except for the fact that some other P6s came back at around 11.30 and Yan Tong's sis came back too. Oh, and Gaoly was wearing her hilarious ah-ma shirt again. The black one that she wore to underwater world, you know? Okay, I'm not exactly in a position to criticise her because I wore my graduation day shorts AGAIN. O.o

Anyway, after that we had to take a bus to some condo in Coronation Road that one of the choir members, Nicole, lived in. It was this really big place that had two(or was it three?) pools, one of them with a slide. And this really big playground, garden-ish outdoor function room and even tennis and squash courts. So posh, right? Our party thing was to be held at the outdoor function room, beside the playground. Everyone brought tons of food, that is, everyone except the P6s. And some other random people. Ah well, we weren't even TOLD. Erk. And so there was so much food, mostly chicken, chicken nuggets, BBQ chicken, chicken this and chicken that. Not to mention the thing that every party has tons of: CHIPS. There was even this french baguette basket which was brought by someone's mother. It came with this really yummy veggie dip. I ate lots and lots of that, it was so delicious!

After the food, we were asked to do some 'Golden Slip Hunt' game, which was really a silly game where we had to find so-called 'Golden Slips' which were pieces of scrunched-up paper with 'Golden Slip' written on them. Of course, our group(made up of all 7 P6s) found just 5 Golden Slips, whereas the other groups got much more, around eleven or twelve. Wenxin and I just strolled around the place mumbling about how the slips looked like rubbish. And surprise, surprise! One member found a slip in the grass, JUST LIKE RUBBISH. Haha.

So after that, nobody was quite as enthusiastic about games anymore and we just ate a lot more, fought to go on the swings and I was on the see-saw most of the time. Then Wenxin got on and I practically killed her. Then three other people got down and tried to weigh me down. Ah well, all it took was one hard bump and they all gave up. Whee. Too bad someone started killing ME then, forcing me to get off. Hmph. I went on the swing too but had to get off because someone had to push me really hard and I'm afraid of that, so HMPH.

After that, we played some Musical Chairs and 'Blow, Wind, Blow!' but that's nothing worth mentioning. And next, another crazy stampede to the playground for some, while others who were getting very hot indeed went to dip our legs in the pool. And Mr. Goh was happily snapping away at us with his camera... When we were done with the pool, the barbequeued chicken was ready to eat, and I took just one but alas, it wasn't cooked. So that sort of laid me off chicken. I liked the cooked ones, though. I must've eaten eight of those. After a lot more random chatting and fooling around, it was cake-cutting time. There was this super-chocolatey cake with 'Farewell P6s' written on it. After dragging our very reluctant choir president, Daphne, to cut the cake, I had two slices of cake and so did Wenxin.

Later, Mr. Goh and Mr. Chen played weird games with us like this game where you have to answer everything with a question, and the forfeit for losers is to eat a slice of cake, as the cake was so big that there was much more than half left after the cake-cutting. I got TWO slices, but halfway into the first one and I was ready to puke. So I decided to hold on to the cake first, later leaving it on the table and denying all ownership of it. Sneaky, huh.

So the rest of the time after Mr. Chen and Mr. Goh left, we did more fooling around at the playground before heading back to school on the bus. I took public bus home after that and had a very scandalous conversation with a P5 junior about loonies. Don't ask, seriously.

What an... amusing day? O.o

Wednesday 3 December 2008,

Thank goodness for choir, or I'd be doing loads of nothing as usual. Well, that's what I'm doing now anyway, but at least it's not for the WHOLE day. I have a terrible cough that MUST go away by Friday or I won't be able to eat any party food! Siiiigh. Anyway, most of today was spent playing Blokus Online: http://www.blokus.com/online-game and iSketch: http://www.isketch.net Hope that keeps you entertained for at least a while. Teehee. And of course, I've been listening to lots of music too. So that'll be the topic for today, then: Music videos! Yay.

If you haven't heard Ayaka yet, you haven't heard really nice J-Pop, I say. Ayaka is AWESOME~! So here are a few of my favourite Ayaka songs. ^^

迷路 - 絢香

時を戻して - 絢香

Story - 絢香

Real voice - ayaka

So that's my 'artiste of the week'! Hope that's satisfying enough. If not, go listen/watch gaoly's vlogs. Guaranteed to remove your boredom for at least a few moments. :D I might do one soon, but that's if I manage to recharge my dead videocam. ^^ That's all for now, seeya! More tomorrow.
